Hire our spaces.
Live calendars, honest hourly rates, instant confirmation. Rehearsals, readthroughs, auditions and non-commercial workshops all welcome. Pick your location below: Haggerston is our Playhouse East building, Dalston is the original AE blackbox theatre.
Haggerston.

The Playhouse
Our bright and airy mainspace — wooden floors, tons of daylight and real room to breathe. Run-throughs, big-cast rehearsals, workshops and R&D weeks.
No blackout yet — it's a daylight room (that's the charm).
Studio Tardieu
The workhorse studio — warm, focused, perfect for play rehearsals, workshops and one-on-ones.
No amplified music — a cappella or a small Bluetooth speaker is fine (we reserve the right to ask for quiet if sound carries). Sound-insulated, not soundproof.
The Self-Tape Room
A dedicated room for self-tapes, readthroughs, Zoom meetings and writing days: professional backdrops, two tripods, TV, mirror, blackout blinds and fast Wi-Fi for direct uploads. Add a professional reader for £60/hr all-in.
Dalston.
AE Theatre — Blackbox
The original Actors East space — a proper working blackbox inside a proper working actors' building. Auditions, rehearsals, workshop days and anything that wants that black-walls focus.
Online booking covers groups of up to 6. Bigger group? Email us and we'll sort a rate — subject to availability.
Unfunded? Money should never stop the work.
Actors East was set up to combat prohibitively expensive rehearsal space in London. We run a Pay What You Can scheme for unfunded work — subsidised rates arranged directly with us, not through the public calendars. Email us to ask about access.
These are rehearsal studios. Rehearsals, readthroughs, auditions and non-commercial workshops are all welcome to book online. Anything beyond a normal rehearsal — ticketing, an audience, house support, or any kind of event — must be arranged with us formally first: contact@playhouseeast.com. If the slot you want is unavailable, drop us a line too — we can sometimes move things around.
None of our studios is a sound stage — expect some sound bleed from outside in (and out). In Studio Tardieu there's no amplified music: a cappella or a small Bluetooth speaker is fine, and we reserve the right to ask for quiet if sound carries.
